UN/CEFACT, OASIS, OMG, HR-XML, and XBRL agreed informally in December 2001 to the following pledge.

"Standards groups from around the world have come together in the interests of advancing interoperability between standards. We have agreed to the following actions:

• We will respect and maximise the investment of our members by actively seeking ways to avoid duplication of efforts and overlapping development, notifying one another whenever new work is initiated

• We will support working liaisons with one another wherever appropriate.

• We will ensure that our organisation's technical process officially encourages interaction with related efforts of other groups.

• We will communicate in an open forum on a regular basis, scheduling quarterly teleconferences to review potential overlaps.

• We will participate in regular face-to-face meetings at the Interoperability Summit.
