XBRL International constitutes and names members of its Assurance Committee
New York, 14 July, 2010 – XBRL International Inc. (XII) announced today that it has constituted an Assurance Committee, a group established to provide a forum for the identification and communication of market needs related to third party assessment of XBRL-tagged data and serve as the official liaison between market participants and XBRL International on assurance and related matters. The Committee will develop and catalog awareness materials (articles and publications) addressing the assessment of the accuracy of information tagged in XBRL format and how to lend credibility to this information. The XII Assurance Committee will not develop standards or related guidance for XBRL assurance.

The Financial Accounting Standards Board is hiring a Computer Systems Developer with a strong background in software development, a deep working knowledge of XML Schema, XSL 2.0, and a strong desire to learn XBRL architecture.
The position will be responsible for providing all IT systems support for the XBRL US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy Project, including maintaining XML/XBRL-related applications. The position will include development of certain software applications and interfaces to facilitate and improve the research, development, and maintenance processes for the project.

Deloitte Netherlands: Disclosure of XBRL financial statements
Deloitte Netherlands has disclosed their 2008-2009 Consolidated Financial Statement in XBRL using the 2009 version of the Dutch Taxonomy. Also an assurance report on the XBRL instance document has been prepared and published on the company’s website. As not all data items in the printed version of the annual report 2009 are covered by the 2009 version of the Dutch Taxonomy, the instance document contains footnotes that explain specific fact values where applicable. Although disclosure of XBRL reports is not mandatory, Deloitte Netherlands recognizes and supports XBRL as a data standard for managing and reporting financial and business information. The XBRL information can be viewed interactively on the company’s website and can be downloaded.

2010 HP Labs Innovation Research Program Call for Proposals
December, 2009 - HP Labs has launched its third annual 2010 Innovation Research Program (IRP) Call for Proposals, offering awards in the range of $50,000 to $75,000 USD to researchers at colleges, universities and research institutes around the world.
The program is designed to create opportunities for breakthrough collaborative research with HP. Proposals will be judged on their potential scientific and societal impact, as well as the caliber of the principal researchers, the availability of matching funds for the project and the quality of the proposed research plan.
The deadline for abstract submissions is 29 January 2010.

Versioning Specification - Base and Basic Concepts issued as PWD and Last Call for Comments
The Versioning Working Group have split the Versioning Specification, previously issued as a single, larger, specification into various modules that it is felt more closely align with specific projects' requirements. The first two of these, "Base" and "Basic Concepts" are released as Public Working Draft at http://www.xbrl.org/SpecPWDs/.
The Working Group have also issued a "Last Call for Comments", which expires on 2010-01-15, preparatory to promotion to Candidate Recommendation and a corresponding call for implementations.
Federation of European Accountants Publishes Policy Statement on XBRL
The FEE XBRL Policy Statement is designed to briefly explain XBRL, its impact on accountants and auditors and FEE’s position on XBRL. FEE expects to continue to perform more detailed work in the area of XBRL in the future. Additionally, FEE is committed to actively contribute to the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) initiatives related to XBRL and its implications for auditors and other stakeholders.

Based on input from FEI’s Committee on Finance and Information Technology (CFIT), Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF) has launched the Twelfth Annual Survey of Technology Issues for Financial Executives. The survey results will be analyzed by Gartner Group, the information technology and research advisory firm.
This survey is important as it will help financial executive benchmark their company’s use of technology with that of other companies, while aiding agenda generation for CFIT and research project ideas for FERF.
Responses will be held in strictest confidence, and will only be used in the preparation of the FERF Executive Report. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the report when published (March 2010). Survey participants will also receive a special Gartner Research Notes on a related finance function topic.

XBRL International issues LAST CALL for comments - Versioning Specification
The Versioning Working Group has published the 4th Working Draft of the Versioning Specification. This specification defines the semantics and syntax for the versioning report (excluding dimensional information). The versioning report represents the changes made to the concept definitions and resources that exist in two different taxonomies.
It has also issued the LAST CALL for comments preparatory to promotion to Candidate Recommendation. The LAST CALL period will end 2009-07-01.

United Kingdom HRMC Draft Regulations to require online XBRL Corporation Tax filings have now been issued, The Regulations are open for comment until 31 July 2009.
In summary, the plans are as follows For Corporation Tax, returns and payment will be required online for all companies for returns delivered on 1 April 2011 or later, relating to periods ending on 1 April 2010 or later. XBRL US CEO Mark Bolgiano Testifies Before House Subcommittee
In a hearing before the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, XBRL US President and CEO Mark Bolgiano testified that XBRL can "provide citizens, government and investors consistent, comparable reporting on the existing pool of securitized assets, help regulators track the disbursement and use of TARP funds and enable more effective regulation by government."
According to the XBRL US Web site, Bolgiano told committee members the XML-based standard is already being used by several hundred firms that report to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and all U.S. public companies will be using it to report to the Securities and Exchange Commission within the next few years. "XBRL is ready," he said. "And it’s relevant to the issues in today’s financial crisis."

XBRL International Inc. issues RFP for XSLT 1.0 style sheet for extracting XBRL 2.1 from HTML documents with embedded Inline XBRL
XBRL International Inc. (XII) is soliciting proposals for the development of an XSLT 1.0 style sheet to extract a valid XBRL 2.1 instance document from a well-formed HTML document with valid embedded Inline XBRL content. This implementation is intended to be an example of a conformant implementation and will be made available as an open source project upon successful completion.
XBRL International Inc. announces the appointment of Mr. Daniel Diaz as a contracted regional coordinator for South America. Mr. Diaz was an academic award winner in 2003 and has been involved with XBRL since early 2000.

XBRL appoints new CEO - XBRL France Jurisdiction formed - News Release
XBRL International, Inc. announced today during its 15th XBRL International Conference in Munich that Tony Fragnito, CPA, has been appointed CEO of XBRL International. In this newly created position, Mr. Fragnito will lead the organization’s efforts around the world to promote global adoption of XBRL and interactive data for business reporting. In related news, XBRL International also announced that France has become the latest XBRL jurisdiction to join the global consortium.

This taxonomy provides accounting terms that are used in general purpose financial statements that are prepared in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This taxonomy is an update of the previously acknowledged Canadian PFS Taxonomy of 2004-11-20 to incorporate changes in accounting standards in the intervening period and to improve documentation.
