Updating the Transformation Rules that keep Inline XBRL data comparable
The XBRL Standards Board has approved the publication of a new version of the Transformation Rules Registry. Transformation Rules support the Inline XBRL specification, defining how values such as dates and numbers that are presented using local conventions are converted into the consistent, standardised formats required for structured data. This might not sound like much, but it is essential in enabling Inline XBRL to cope with the wide variations in how people present information around the world, and so in allowing the format to be used and compared globally.
This update promotes version 5.0 of the registry to Recommendation status, which means that it is now finalised and ready for use in production filing environments. This update adds transformations to support tagging of Welsh language dates, and numerical values using apostrophe characters as the thousands separator.
