CDP calls for data-backed transparency in wake of COP28
In response to COP28 outcomes, CDP CEO Sherry Madera celebrates the global agreement to shift from fossil fuels but urges a more robust stocktake with a clear, sustainability data-based roadmap. Acknowledging progress, Madera emphasises the pivotal role of robust data and transparency. However, reflecting on CDP data, which exposes $9 trillion in fossil fuel financing, she stresses the need for policies harmonising financial flows toward renewables.
To support the transition, Madera calls for quality disclosure data, offering CDP’s 20+ years of insights to guide effective government policies. Highlighting the necessity for transparency and accountability, Madera asserts “more words without data and transparency get us nowhere.”
CDP urges entities to report impacts, set targets, and disclose sustainability information for accountability and an effective path towards a resilient economy on a liveable planet.
