ECB Unveils Climate and Nature Plan 2024-2025
The European Central Bank (ECB) has revealed its climate and nature plan 2024-2025, designed to guide its actions aimed at combatting climate change over the next two years.
Amidst escalating climate concerns, the ECB’s initiative targets critical areas including the impact and risks of the green transition, growing climate-related physical risks, and threats from nature loss and degradation. The plan also prioritises improving climate-related data by enhancing indicators and acquiring more comprehensive datasets on climate risks and nature degradation.
Alongside other measures, the plan recognises the importance of quality data for analysis and action. It aims to regularly update climate change-related indicators, integrate climate data into its collections, and support the establishment of international statistical standards.
These policies are designed to foster financial stability during upcoming climate-related economic and environmental changes, supporting the transition to a greener economy and resilient financial system.
