Europe Adopt AI Plan
In February the European Council adopted conclusions from the Coordinated Plan on Artificial Intelligence.
The plan underlines the crucial importance of fostering the development and use of artificial intelligence by increasing investment, strengthening research and encouraging collaboration between industry and academia.
The conclusions include a recognition of the need for more secure and high quality publicly available data for the development of AI technology, suggesting that the creation of a trusted, common European data space could enable the development of new products.
For AI to be effective, it needs to draw on vast pools of standardised, machine-readable data. Of course, the use of XBRL for business reports not only ensures that businesses are AI ready, but also contributes to the development of machine learning through the creation of large, usable data sets.
