FCA CEO on data and digital ambitions
We were interested to note a strong emphasis on data in a recent speech by Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), on challenges and priorities for the organisation. “We’re investing to become as much a data regulator as a financial one, working with partners to realise a future where compliance checks can be completed in near real time,” he stated. Emphasising the importance of collaboration – including internationally, with other national bodies, and with companies – he argued that “while we have independent powers and objectives, we will achieve them more effectively by deeper cooperation and developing common capability, including in artificial intelligence and data ethics.”
