The IFRS Foundation has announced the release of the IFRS Accounting Taxonomy 2025, providing an updated digital tagging framework aligned with the latest IFRS Accounting Standards.

The new taxonomy includes comprehensive tags covering all standards currently in force, alongside new disclosure requirements set out in IFRS 18 and IFRS 19, which, although issued are not yet effective. The early integration of both standards into the taxonomy highlights the IFRS Foundation’s proactive approach to supporting global accounting transparency. It ensures companies and preparers are equipped well ahead of mandatory adoption dates, enhancing their ability to manage transitions smoothly and accurately.

Preparers and software vendors can now begin integrating the taxonomy updates into their reporting processes: the taxonomy incorporates different entry points, facilitating early adoption of, for example IFRS 18.

The IFRS Accounting Taxonomy 2025 reinforces the ongoing global effort towards structured, high-quality digital reporting, positioning preparers and stakeholders to embrace upcoming reporting standards seamlessly.

The taxonomy files, supporting documentation, and detailed guidance are available on the IFRS Foundation’s website.
