IOSCO launches emerging markets network to support ISSB adoption

The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has announced a dedicated network to assist its Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC) members in adopting or using IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards). Launched late last year, the network includes 32 IOSCO members from 31 jurisdictions spanning Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, collectively representing over 4.3 billion people and significant global economic activity.
The GEMC Network aims to build capacity for ISSB Standards implementation, focusing on supervisory and enforcement aspects, market readiness, and leveraging educational resources like the ISSB Jurisdictional Guide. Many members are already developing roadmaps for implementation or building awareness of the standards.
For emerging markets, this network provides critical support, enhancing capacity building and promoting consistency, reliability, and comparability in sustainability disclosures, a key factor in attracting global investors.
