Latest guidance: data-collection design and more

Posted on December 20, 2024 by Editor

In this week’s stop-press news, we’ve just published new draft guidance on designing an effective XBRL data collection and processing platform. It covers the three main components of a typical XBRL platform – receiving the filings, processing the data, and storing the reports – and for each component discusses key features, considerations, and best practices in detail. The guidance aims to support users to build XBRL collection platforms tailored to meet their specific business requirements and regulatory obligations, and we hope it will be of particular use for regulators and other collectors setting out to collect digital reports for the first time. Read the draft here.

Looking back at the year’s other highlights, 2024 also saw us publish:

  • Milestone draft guidance on how to use a single Inline XBRL document for multiple reports. In cases where filers need to submit similar reports to different authorities, and are currently obliged to prepare a separate document for each reporting requirement with its own taxonomy, we hope this will help provide a more streamlined and efficient alternative.
  • Draft guidance on how to smoothly and successfully roll out an XBRL filing programme.
  • A new technical FAQ on XBRL report packages, aimed at software developers.

And if you’re still lacking in holiday reading material, you can explore our full guidance site here!
