New Year, New Data Strategy
The US federal government has begun the new decade with a focus on data; issuing a set of 20 actions agencies will be required to take in 2020 on how they collect, manage, share and use data.
This plan is the first building block in a decade long Data Strategy that aims to transform how the government uses data over the next 10 years.
The 20 actions cover agencies, community practice and shared solutions – with aims including improving various data standards, increasing and improving data resources for AI research, piloting a data management tool and developing data quality measuring and reporting guidance.
With the increasing importance and prevalence of data in finance and regulation, and growing data privacy concerns, this emphasis on data from the US federal government is both timely and welcome.
