Time comes for climate-reporting standards in Australia
The Australian Government Treasury published a consultation paper in December looking for input on the key considerations for the design and implementation of standardised, internationally aligned disclosure requirements for climate-related risk and opportunities.
Following the steady increase from jurisdictions around the world mandating climate-related financial disclosure, Australia is looking to remain aligned with major international capital markets by introducing comparable, credible disclosure requirements.
Of note, for our readers, is the proposal to require digital reporting for these proposed sustainability disclosures.
We encourage readers to take a look and reply – the deadline is 17 February 2023.
