UK Focusing on data for the future
The UK government recently published a policy paper thinking through its digitalisation and data strategy and outlining its next steps to improve in this area.
The paper, Transforming for a digital future: 2022 to 2025 roadmap for digital and data, sets out the UK government’s ambitions to transform digital public services and deliver digital systems – highlighting that access to real-time, high quality data is a building block for success in many areas.
With global digitalisation accelerating rapidly in the past decade, the paper is another positive example of a central government taking data seriously – including the need for standards-based data collection, something we know to be essential in the XBRL reporting realm.
