XBRL Spain celebrates 20 years: from financial reporting to sustainability
XBRL Spain recently marked its 20th anniversary with a celebration in Madrid. Founded in 2004, XBRL Spain represents significant regulators and supervisors such as the Bank of Spain, CNMV, ICAC, Mercantile Registry, and the General Directorate of Heritage, as well as many private entities in the technology sector.
XBRL Spain’s primary goal is to promote the use of the XBRL standard – and with over 95% of Spanish companies depositing their annual accounts in XBRL format, they seem to be pretty good at it! The event’s focus was a look back on the progress of digital, structured financial reporting in Spain and a look forward to XBRL-based reporting of sustainability information with requirements mandated in upcoming EU regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The celebration underscores XBRL Spain’s key role in facilitating transparent and sustainable reporting practices across the Spanish financial landscape. Here’s to another 20 years of excellence in promoting financial transparency and sustainability through digital reporting standards! Congratulations from all of us at XBRL International!
