OIM Suite of Specs Advanced to Candidate Recommendation
The XBRL Standards Board has approved a suite of specifications related to the Open Information Model to Candidate Recommendation, including xBRL-JSON and xBRL-XML. The newest release primarily includes improvements in the use of JSON to represent XBRL, taking into account feedback received from the community on the earlier versions of the spec. We are also seeking more feedback and experiences from early implementers.
This is just one initiative we are undertaking to make XBRL data easier to use and more accessible to stakeholders. (See stories on iXBRL and 2017 trends, left). JSON JSON, or Java Script Object Notation, is a widely used syntax embraced by developers and programming languages for its simplicity, and offers new flexibility to regulators, data providers and other structured data publishers.
