At the recent G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy and the Environment in Sapporo, Japan, the G7 climate and environment ministers called for the implementation of mandatory climate-related financial disclosures. The move is seen as necessary to help achieve global climate goals and accelerate sustainable finance.
The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has also this week outlined the steps needed on the path to establishing a comprehensive global baseline for sustainability disclosures.
In addition to their expression of support for the work of the International Sustainability Standards Board – discussed here – the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors have also strongly urged greater regulation of crypto assets, including enhanced disclosures.
The Group of Seven (G7) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors have issued a communiqué calling for the introduction of mandatory climate-related disclosures and endorsing international initiatives, among other concrete actions to address today’s historic challenges.
